Key takeaways for dollar investors

- COLCAP −0.84% to 2,506.42 but held 2,500; in dollar terms the loss was smaller (about −0.35%) because the peso strengthened.
- Banks and gold rallied: Grupo Cibest +1.06% locally (CIB +1.76% in NY); gold miner Mineros +7.42%.
- COLO +0.87%: the ETF beat the local index thanks to the firmer peso and its bank weighting.

Since Friday, Oct. 30, Brent has fallen from about $113 to under $95 as U.S.–Iran tensions eased. That is a direct hit to Ecopetrol, Colombia’s largest company, and a medium-term risk for the peso, since oil is a key source of dollars. On Wednesday, though, the peso firmed to 3,221 per dollar on global risk appetite after the U.S. midterms. Read why the peso is so strong in 2026.
